As we live our lives we accumulate layers of overt and subtle expectations about who we should be; adaptations we’ve made to protect ourselves or please others; and priorities and preferences we’ve absorbed from culture, family, or people we admire. All these ideas about who we are influence how we think, feel, act, and speak.

Who are you beneath all those layers? What does a meaningful, satisfying life look like for you? What could you contribute if you were firmly rooted in your own identity instead of trying to fit yourself into a role you think you’re expected to fill?

I believe the world is a richer place when we each feel at home within ourselves, allowing us to show up with our unique personalities and gifts. But to show up as ourselves, first, we need to know who we are.

We need to start peeling back the layers to rediscover who are are at our core. Knowing where we are right now and where we might want to go helps us choose the direction of our next step. We need possibilities to reach for when we’re feeling stuck.

No one else can tell you who you are, but that doesn’t mean we can’t walk the path of self-discovery together. Every other week, I email subscribers a note with the latest blog posts, questions to further the conversation, links to resources I’ve learned from lately, and, occasionally, a little something extra.
